If your doctor ordered a PSA test, and it came back mildly elevated (between 4-10 ng/mL),and if he/she tells you you need a biopsy, please get a second opinion. These type of doctors are the reason why there is so much controversy in this field–to many unnecessary prostate biopsies. Just don’t do it. Instead, recheck levels in a few months, or check the percentage of free PSA, another blood test.
