Just because you can do a test doesn’t mean you should do it. No, if your doctor doesn’t offer to do a pulmonary function test during your yearly physical he/she is not incompetent. They are trying to save you money and time from doing unnecessary tests. This is one of them. This would be different if you have a smoking history and/or breathing problems.
