Question:
If I am older (over 65), and prefer indoors to outdoors, should I take vitamin D 1000IU daily to help prevent falls?
Answer:
Yes
MedHead Confidence Score: 5
Amount Saved: $3,000 cost of ER visit for a fall
MedHead Message:
Vitamin D at 1,000IU daily is fine for most adults. Taking too much can cause problems, so don’t take more than 2,000IU daily without having your blood checked. You may have your levels checked and need to take much higher doses. Nobody likes to fall, just ask humpty-dumpty 🙂 Sometimes falls can lead to hip fractures and early death.
