The American Cancer Society recommends a PSA blood test at a younger age if you are African-American or have a father, brother, or son diagnosed with prostate cancer younger than age 65. PSA testing is quite controversial, so make sure that your doctor knows how to handle a PSA result that is elevated–it does not mean you need to get a prostate biopsy right away.
