People don’t often think about the negative side of screening tests. For example, most abnormal mammograms end up being completely benign, but cost a lot in money for follow up tests, not to mention mental anguish of the woman. When choosing to do a screening mammogram, be smart, don’t start until age 45, start earlier if the your mental anguish of not knowing outweighs the potential anguish of knowing you have a spot that needs to be followed up on.
