This Cochrane review found that Remeron (mirtazapine) helps reduce depressive symptoms faster and better than other antidepressants it reviewed. Keep in mind, though, this can really cause weight gain, more than others. The generic version of it is less than $15 on goodrx.com. Take it at night, too because it can cause sleepiness.
