Question:
If I have just had an injury, does taking non steroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID) such as Diclofenac, Ibuprofen, or Naproxen reduce pain as well or more than narcotic pain medication such as Vicodin or Percocet?

Yes

MedHead Message:
Interestingly, non narcotic medications such as ibuprofen or naproxen seem to do a little better in acute pain situations, however, you may need to take more than the recommended dose on the label to achieve maximum effect. Typically, you can take 3-4 ibuprofen instead of the 1-2 recommended on the label. Diclofenac is prescription only, but may work a little better than the ibuprofen.
